Finger position: Place your index finger on all the strings’ of the first fret. Now, place your ring finger on the A (fifth) strings’ third fret. The place your pinky on the D (forth) strings’ third fret. This is the position of the F minor. Now then, if you are playing barre chords for the first time, I guarantee there is no sound coming from your guitar. It’s really common. But, do not worry as you practice you’ll be play it smoothly.

 

Note: The best way to practice any chords is to hold the chord position and play every string individually and make sure that all of them sound smooth. And to practice the movement of the chord play one chord after the other and again make sure that all strings sound smooth. Eventually you’ll get the hang of it. Be patient.
